  1. The BEST tour – a dream come true
I’ve been dreaming of going to Egypt since I was 7 years old. At 37, I finally made it. Even with the warnings that it’s not safe for Americans. Thankfully, Egypt Fun Tours quickly put any worry aside. Hamada, the owner, was recommended by a friend. He was our personal guide for 2.5 days. We saw more than I expected and the experience was everything I hoped it would be. He made us feel very safe and extremely well-informed. And there was never any cause for concern. We had great conversations about the history, culture and current politics. He was beyond helpful – even taking me to get a local SIM card to ensure I could take my client calls at night. I can’t recommend this company and Hamada enough. I will be signing his praises for years to come – for all those who express interest in visiting.

  2. Private 3 day tour of Cairo, excellent guide Ahmed Kellawy!
My father and I stopped in Cairo for 3 days on our way back to the USA from a safari in South Africa, and found Egypt Fun Tours that arranged everything we would need. A private tour with all transfers and hotel was arranged, and of course, our wonderful Egyptologist Ahmed Kellawy!
The time was definitely made “5 Star” because of Ahmed, as well as our wonderful drivers Mr Osama and Mr Romany.
Pick-up early the first morning at CAI was a breeze. Our flight arrived at 5:30am and we were met by an agent who assisted us with customs and visas. I am quite a worldly traveler, but I definitely appreciated this assistance as Cairo airport was not the easiest or most well signed arrivals hall. After obtaining our bags, we were taken to meet our driver and Ahmed our guide.
Our tour consisted of 1 day of the Great Pyramids, Sphinx, Memphis, Saqqara, and a wonderful lunch. There were also stops that seemed at first like arranged sales visits to a papyrus institute and a perfume shop. However, the demonstrations that were given were very interesting and informative, and the sales was not high pressure or demanding (even though we did end up buying some beautiful prints!)
Day 2 was a full day odyssey up to Alexandria. I enjoyed this day the most, as it was sites I was not familiar with. Schooling and media makes everyone know of the great sites in and around Cairo, but the sites we saw in Alexandria was a great learning experience! The pillar of Pompey, the catacombs (this was really awesome), driving through the streets and seeing local life. We also had a wonderful seaside lunch. I do not eat seafood, and they were able to accommodate me, while providing my father with a delicious seafood meal! Ahmed even took us out for ice cream!
Day 3 was more of the historical sites of Cairo, the great museum, the sites of Coptic Cairo, Mosque of Amr Ibn Al-Aas, and a trip to the bazaar with some delicious coffee! They had arranged for us to stay in the hotel until our midnight departure back to the airport!
I encourage you to keep an open mind when visiting Cairo. The tourism industry took a large hit after the revolution, and this booking was not what one would normally imagine with a normal tourist operation. They were very friendly in communication and prompt though. Hamada made sure everything was taken care of, even though I did have some worries.
They do not have a modern pay system available to use, so we were surprised that we had to pay everything in cash upon arrival. We had just come from a safari in South Africa, so did not have any American, European, nor Egyptian currency of the quantities needed. It would have been nice to have that clarified during the original booking process so we were prepared. It was quite an adventure going to multiple cash machines to obtain the quantity needed to pay, as we also had included our hotel through them!
Speaking of the hotel, it was a very nice and safe hotel. The food was acceptable, and we found that the buffet was included for breakfast each morning (which was not communicated to us, and we found out on our own). I would maybe consider booking a hotel separate as there are many excellent choices in Cairo at extremely affordable rates (I also collect hotel points for future stays, which cannot be done with a booking through them), but it was very nice to have this taken care of for us! Also, do not even think of renting a car and driving yourself. The streets of Cairo were madness! It was so great to have the expert Mr Osama keeping us safe and worry free!
Our trip to Cairo was out of this world, and having the work done by Egypt Fun Tours made it that much more smooth!
